Dr. Mahoney is an Assistant Professor of Politics and Public Policy at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia. Her research focuses on global advocacy.
Her book Brussels vs. the Beltway: Advocacy in the United States and the European Union (Georgetown University Press, 2008) is the first large scale comparative study of lobbying in the US and the EU. She has also published in European Union Politics, the Journal of Public Policy, the Journal of European Public Policy, West European Politics, and the Journal of Common Market Studies. She is the recipient of the 2011 Emerging Scholar award from the American Political Science Association and a major grant from the National Science Foundation to study political framing.
She was previously an Assistant Professor at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University and the Director of the Center for European Studies and the Maxwell EU Center.
