And once again some are purporting that Latter day Saints worship the prophet and the apostles. One article is floating around with a variation in the headline: Mormon president can do no wrong to religion members and For Mormons, What Does The Prophet Really Mean? Without question Mormon's give deference to the prophet and the apostles. However, they don't worship them. They follow their counsel because they speak and represent the mind and will of the Lord. When the Lord called the original Twelve He said: "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye shall bring forth fruit." He also called seventy other men to help them minister among the people (see John 15:16; Luke 10:1; the Lord created their offices, not Joseph Smith. Not Thomas Monson). Was the Lord hoping they would be ignored, ridiculed and persecuted? Did He not want them to speak and the people to follow their counsel and teachings? Why did He send them forth? I believe the Lord has ordained prophets and apostles in our day. They represent His church and declare His will, particularly at General Conference . They declare His commandments and defend His doctrines. These men are subject to mortal weaknesses, both privately and publicly. So what! When new converts from the east reached Nauvoo, Joseph Smith warned them: "[He] was but a man, and they must not expect [him] to be perfect; if they expected perfection from [him], [he] should expect it from them; but if they would bear with [his] infirmities and the infirmities of the brethren, [he] would likewise bear with their infirmities." I have read biographies on all the LDS prophets and many of the apostles. There are plenty of examples where they fell short, in some instances drastically short. The grandeur is in what they have become in what they have overcome and left behind in honestly seeking after innocence and purity not the lust of the flesh. They have learned to fill those undesirable and lonely voids in life, we all experience, with light and compassion. Overall, notwithstanding their private and public failings on occasion, they illustrate a consistent life of "faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. Modern day prophets do not chase the wisdom and clamor of the world. They know the voice of Him who called them (by the way not by election). The uniqueness of a prophet is defined in a life wherein they go about doing good, not going about finding fault. There will always be those who lurk around General Conference hoping to see and hear something that they could use to stir up confrontation. They will inevitably find some clause, some line, and some small paragraph from an address that they can twist to provoke agitation. To understand and appreciate the ministry of modern day prophets and apostles watch General Conference. And then to better understand those who sow seeds of doubt before, during, and after General Conference study John 15:18 23; 16:1 2 . This is so very true. All the books and stories are about these men and how great they are. Sundays are filled with must follow the prophet speeches and hand picked stories. It is really perverse. I run into these servant from time to time, and yes most are really nice people, however I have a hard time imaging Christ or his apostles having a personal chef or a brand new car and a chauffeur at his disposal. I certainly don see Jesus flying in first class or drawing a 60 80k allowance, after their housing and transportation are paid for. Whenever any obvious fact surfaces about something these men say in contradicting each other or God, the automated response is: just obey them and it will work out later, when they speak, the thinking has been done for us it hard to understand why that is not man worship. I too beg to differ. I watched the conference. I heard a lot we MUST follow the prophet teachings, we MUST do as he says must remember Christ, we must do what he would have had us do must do as he would have done If the LDS church teaches that these men are not only inspired, but actually are speaking with Jesus, what teachings has Monson actually taught? I looked back at all his talks since he got the job of prophet and he has only talked of the widows in his ward?! He has avoided every major topic that the world needs guidance on, every single one. Is he not the prophet for the whole world? why does he only use Mormon speak to talk about Mormon topics? If he is the prophet why does he not say what Jesus wants us to do TODAY, Isn the claim that he speaks with God, then why the deafening silence? Where are his teachings? Or is everything going so well in the world that all that is left to do is announce Temples for members only, or talk only about the LDS humanitarian efforts and count off how many blankets and bottles of water were given out? You say these men are not worshiped, but I have a hard time understanding why we must follow them and never question anything they say because they speak for the lord oh, yeah, if they make a mistake they are just men, how nice to have it both ways. Mikeasell When President Monson gets up at the end of conference and endorses all that has been taught, it is the same as if he had relayed all those talks himself, because he knows they are the very teachings Jesus would have delivered if He was present and was the only speaker. And how do you know the Lord Jesus Christ has spoken to him and told him specifically to continually talk about the 80+ widows he personally ministered to? Could the Lord have instructed him to do so? Couldn it be so we have a real life, modern example of one who does the works Jesus would do? If so, then it only serves as another witness that we should be doing the same. And how could you possibly find fault with that? That is a very pie in the sky way of getting around the fact that you have seers that don see, revelators that don reveal and prophets that don prophesy. If your argument was true then Jesus would be made responsible for all the blunders, racist remarks, changes in doctrines, and opinion that have been said from that pulpit over the years. This is just my point. They speak for Jesus except and are therefore to be semi worshiped, unless they make a mistake, in which case they are but humble servants, mere men. Prophets are to teach DOCTRINE, not just rehash old practices and teachings into an emotional, jaw quivering, tear filled, manipulative, cherry picked example, soup for the soul, cry session. You, like many Mormons, mix up emotion with the spirit and have become addicted to getting a spiritual and emotional high of self assurance that you are all doing the right thing and you are better than other religions. Any religion that claims to have prophets has got to continue to receive revelation, on an ongoing basis, you cant stop and just reminisce about the past teachings. Tell me, show me their works? when was the last chapter of the D written? why is the not translating the rest of the bible? Why does the PR arm of the church speak out about anything remotely controversial instead of the holy mouthpiece? Why does your leader, while claiming revelation continue to change other revealed truths from previous prophets? has God changed in the last 150 years? It sounds like you have many questions and are concerned about many things so let start here: My question was simple how can you find fault in a leader who has given his life to serving? President Monson never asked or campaigned to be a Bishop or an Apostle or the President of the Church, yet he has willingly given of his time and means to serve others. Then he teaches us to do the same. How can you find fault with that? You say you have looked back at his conference talks as President and all he has taught about are the widows he served. Number one, this is grossly misstated and number two, even if that all that you have chosen to hear, what is wrong with the leader of Christ church being a Christlike example of service? I know you have many questions, and I like to hear and address as many as I can but let start here are you taking so much of your time to find fault with a leader who has willingly given his entire life to lead us to Christ by showing us how to do the works of Christ? I think there are some Mormons who go a bit far in their hero worship of prominent leaders in the LDS Church. But I think most Mormons just recognize and respect the fact that they have dedicated themselves to traveling the world to help others and to inspire people to live better lives. At a time when others dedicate themselves to a long retirement on the golf course, they have accepted responsibilities and a lifestyle that few would wish for at that stage of their lives. As for the content of President Monson conference addresses: I think the common theme Mike identified is an important one. Reminding people to have an awareness for those around them who are passing through difficult times in their lives and to find ways to lift their burdens is a good message for times like these. Most people cannot directly impact world events, but they can have an impact in their own communities. Mike falsely assumes that the primary role of a prophet is to give grand revelations about the future of the world. In actuality that has been the role of very few prophets. Rather most have had the responsibility to call people to care for the less fortunate and to live better lives. So it is with Thomas Monson. I have great respect for any man who sacrifices 50 years of his life to the service of God and his fellow man. you are funny. Ok, climb off the pulpit and listen: lets make this simple. He gets 80k in salary from the church. He has his own chauffeur and chef, on call, 24/7, he gets free housing in a penthouse. He has received a salary from the church almost his entire life. So please, do not dishonor Christ by saying this man has lead a Christ like life. Its fine that he is a leader and that even he loves to publish books about himself, fine. But he does not claim to be a leader, he claims to be a prophet and a seer and a revelator. I imagine that you do not even know your church teachings but I will tell you that if you read Joseph Smith, you will understand that this man, this lovable high paid Santa character you worship, is no prophet. What you do with your money and time blindly following a man is you own problem and right. I have the right the spend as much time as you do here expressing my opinion. Women Nike Free Run 3 Wolf Grey Prism Blue Volt,Hi. I'm Jamie Rice, designer of womens contemporary brand, Tuck. Today I'm going to show you how to make your clothes look cool. Hi. Today we're going to talk about popular jewelry trends. First we have this piece right here that's a multi chain. I see what's happening in fashion right now. It's very chunky jewelry, lots of multiple layers and chains that are mixed together. This one I got, it's very like vintage inspired, inspired and it was from Bonnie's New York. It's nice and chunky and heavy and it has just enough prettiness in it with the rhinestones. This is another piece I picked up. It looks very vintagey. I got it in New York City at a wonderful place called This n' That, Jewelry and Collectibles on 25th Street. I love it how it has the multiple chains, the rainbow stone, it looks very expensive and it also has like just enough vintage look to it. It makes it very, very cool. These are two pieces of my own. And again with the trend with multi chains. I layered in mesh and copper colors, pieces of gold, rhinestones, and I gave it just enough prettiness and just enough edge to it. And the last piece, also a multi chain, very, very, cool. it's gunmetal mixed with gold trends. It has like multiple layers and it's adjustable. And these are all of the trends I'm seeing now. Lots of mixed colors, lots of mixed trims, chains with rhinestones and everything looks very over sized. And it just looks very, very versatile. Once again, I'm Jamie Rice, designer of Tuck. Thanks again for watching.

It closed last year, after its owner, Trudy Buell, decided that the tavern was too difficult to run and that there wasn't enough demand for family style food.Yesterday, except for a congratulatory wreath from Ms. Buell in the shape of the old restaurant's trademark horseshoe, there were no traces of the former roadside tavern.Instead, the freshly painted red and white building is adorned with Chinese lanterns and newly planted flowers. Inside, the decor was pale pink and emerald green.Former Buell's diners discussed the differences between the two restaurants. "It's much more attractive," said Anne Ostrom, a former Buell's patron. "The whole interior is delightful."Y. Y. Lee, the new restaurant's chairman and chief executive officer, also owns a restaurant in Taiwan. He was on hand yesterday to greet diners on opening day. Women Nike Free Run 3 Wolf Grey Prism Blue Volt The prime minister has spoken. Finally, he scratched himself free of the veneer he chose to put on himself when it came to dealing with the security establishment of the country. After the ministry of defence conceded in the Supreme Court the other day that they have no control over operations of the army and the ISI, one could see that coming. But this tone or tenor was not expected of the prime minister. Prime Minister Gilani is now clamouring for the respect of the hierarchy established in the Constitution of Pakistan between different institutions of the state. He also said that a state within a state can no longer be permitted. He particularly referred to the ruckus created by the opponents of his government about the large number of visas issued to the Americans in the recent past without clearance from the relevant security departments. This, apparently, is a question also posed by the commission investigating the Abbottabad incident. Gilani asked about how Osama bin Laden could live in Pakistan and who issued him a visa. He was almost bitter when he counted his government's efforts to standby the security establishment after the Mumbai attacks of 2008, Osama being found in Pakistan in May 2011 and the Nato attacks on the Pakistani border check post last month. His contention was that the civilian government had actually owned up to the policy choices made solely by the military and even substantially increased their benefits in the times of economic hardships. Things have come to a head. Like in the past, it is now confirmed by the chief executive of the country himself that the civilian government is at loggerheads with the military leadership. This is not the first time in the country's history. However, there is a certain uniqueness about the present circumstances if we compare these with 1958, 1969, 1977, three times during the 1990s and, lastly, in 1999. Whenever there has been an army takeover or a serious confrontation between the elected government and the military, resulting in the removal of the elected government, the country was not at war. When Gen Musharraf took over in 1999, the Kargil war had already been over. This time around, the country is virtually at war. We are facing a number of violent conflicts within the country and a war is being fought across the western borders for more than a decade. This war has spilled over substantially into our country. The worst that could happen in these times is happening now the clash of the institutions. It is time to reiterate that there is no other way to run a federation except democracy. Democracy is not just about service delivery and fixing lanes and drains, emphatically referred to as 'good governance' these days. It is more about negotiating competing interests between diverse peoples living in a state and creating stakes for all and sundry in the functioning of that state. No one sensible can hold a brief for corruption or inefficiency. But democracy in any country evolves in an organic way and only through a process of choice and elimination citizens collectively create viable states, or do away with them if they choose. Governments come and go. State itself becomes efficient and sustainable through a long drawn democratic process. Democracy is non negotiable.
