(AP) A California jury awarded Apple $119 million far less than it demanded in a patent battle with Samsung over alleged copying of smart phone features, and the jury made the victory even smaller by finding that Apple illegally used one of Samsung's patents. The verdict was a far cry from the $2.2 billion Apple sought and the $930 million it won in a separate 2012 trial making similar patent infringement claims against older Samsung products, most of which are no longer for sale in the United States. The jury found that Apple had infringed one of Samsung's patents in creating the iPhone 4 and 5. Jurors awarded Samsung $158,400, trimming that amount from the original $119.62 million verdict. Samsung had sought $6 million. "Though this verdict is large by normal standards, it is hard to view this outcome as much of a victory for Apple," Santa Clara University law professor Brian Love said. "This amount is less than 10 percent of the amount Apple requested and probably doesn't surpass by too much the amount Apple spent litigating this case." The award may be adjusted slightly in favor of Apple. Jurors were ordered to return to court Monday to continue deliberations on a minor matter that could result in a higher award for Apple. Because the jury was still empaneled, jurors were prevented from talking publicly about the case. Samsung spokesman Lauren Restuccia declined comment, citing the ongoing deliberations. Apple declared Friday's verdict a victory. "Samsung willfully stole our ideas and copied our products," Apple spokeswoman Kristin Huguet said. "We are fighting to defend the hard work that goes into beloved products like the iPhone, which our employees devote their lives to designing and delivering for our customers." Unlike the first trial in San Jose federal court in 2012, Samsung lawyers made Google a central focus of their defense. Google makes the Android software that Samsung and other smartphone manufacturers use as their operating systems. Samsung argued that Google was Apple's real target. More than 70 percent of smartphones run on Android, a mobile operating system that Google Inc. has given out for free to Samsung and other phone makers Both companies will now try to urge the judge to remove the others products from store shelves in the United State. Love and other experts say that neither company is expected to succeed with those demands. "So far Apple has been unsuccessful at doing so and, without a sales ban, this case is unlikely to move the needle on the larger battle between Apple and Android," Love said. The verdict marked the latest intellectual property battle between the world's top two smartphone makers. Apple and Samsung have sued each other in courts and trade offices around the world. Apple and Samsung are locked in a bitter struggle for dominance of the $330 billion worldwide smartphone market. Samsung has become the leader of the sector with a 31 percent share after being an also ran with just 5 percent in 2007. Apple, meanwhile, has seen its market share slip to about 15 percent from a high of 27 percent three years ago. The jury of four men and four women delivered its verdict in the latest case after beginning deliberations on April 29. During the monthlong trial, Apple argued that many of the key functions and vital features of Samsung phones were invented by Apple. Samsung countered that its phones operate on the Google Android software system and that any legal complaint Apple has is with the search giant. Google entered the smartphone market while its then CEO Eric Schmidt was on Apple's board. The move infuriated Apple co founder Steve Jobs, who considered Android to be a blatant rip off of iPhone innovations. After removing Schmidt from Apple's board, Jobs vowed that Apple would resort to "thermonuclear war" to destroy Android and its allies. At the recent trial, Samsung attorneys produced an email Jobs sent to executives in 2010 urging them to wage a "holy war" against Android in 2011. Early in deliberations, the jury wanted to know if Jobs had mentioned Google when considering the lawsuit that was eventually filed in 2012, several months after the Apple founder died of cancer. District Judge Lucy Koh told jurors no additional evidence was available to them beyond what was presented during the trial. Koh answered similarly to questions about Samsung's chief executive officer's reaction when informed that Apple executives had complained to executives at the South Korean company about alleged patent infringement. Same with hardware: If Apple wants to sue Samsung over the physical machines it produces, Apple has to prove that the design of Samsung's smartphones was derived from that of the iPhone, or that it uses parts that Apple owns the patent for without Apple's permission. To my knowledge, none of that is actually true, on either software or hardware. So then it comes down to whether Apple can still convince the jury that Samsung's variation of the Android OS, its apps, and/or its hardware, are similar enough to those of the iPhone that they might as well have been identical. Keeping in mind that your average jury is probably not going to be well versed in patent law, nor would be very technically savvy and understand software and hardware design, it's pretty likely that Apple only "won" this based on clever maneuvering rather than actual facts. Which, as several people pointed out further below, is one of the things that separates engineers from lawyers. Apple is such a greedy whiny control freak company that has been doing this forever. If Apple had it's way, we would all be forced to use only apple products for everything. We would have to pay triple to buy everything they have built with slave labor in China. And yet, people think they are so great! People are dumb when it comes to Apple's actual integrity and value. If they weren't so greedy, then I would say sure, not so bad, but if it were up to them, there wouldn't be any competition in the technology field allowed and zero choices for people. just apple. I mean they attack Microsoft for trying to dominate the world but they end up trying to do the same thing. they just need to STFU and do what they do best and let the chips fall where they may. Apple stole many of it's ideas. The genius was in the marketing. What is disappointing to me is that there was such a big deal made of Steve Jobs passing but not that of Dennis Richey who actually IS responsible for much of what we have including OSX which is a Unix variant while using Apple's own kernel which in itself uses the HURD microkernel which is way behind where it should be after more than 20 years. I'm surprised Richard Stallman didn't make a stink about the HURD microkernel being used which is GNU licensed..

And today I'm going to talk about muscles the FILA Sculpt N Tone shoes work. And also all the shoes in that same category. So the FILA Sculpt N Tone shoes as well as these Sketcher Shape Ups and any other brands that is promoting a shoe that actually works your muscles more intensely. Actually what they do is they give you an unstable surface in which you are working on. So the way their soles are shaped is usually they have some sort of rocking motion to them. And usually they'll make the side to side a little bit more challenging. And so what they are doing is requiring that you use a little bit more balance while you do your activities. But the American Council on Exercise did some scientific research on these type of shoes and they found that what happens is no new muscles that you are not normally working when you exercise anyway are being fired in any significant way. What they found though is that when people purchase a pair of shoes that they think is going to work their muscle groups extra it's more motivating and it gets you out exercising a bit more then if you didn't have the shoes in the first place. So just remember when you go to choose an athletic shoe that the amount of results you are going to get from a shoe is really going to be dependent on how much work you put into your exercising in general. And doesn't necessarily come down to the type of shoe you choose. My name is Janet and that's about how FILA Sculpt N Tone shoes work muscles. Thanks for watching.

Example Air Jordan 8 Playoffs 2013 In the fifth installment, we look at the defensive linemen. GREEN BAY Pass rushers generate a ton of debate during free agency. The dollars that pass rushers command make it almost impossible to find a bargain. Sacks are a high priced commodity, and there's no getting them cheap. With Cincinnati defensive end Michael Johnson and his 11 sacks last season off the market thanks to the franchise tag, perhaps the head of the free agent class is Detroit's Cliff Avril, who was tagged last year but is now available. Avril has 20 sacks over the last two years and will be entering just his sixth season. Two other young defensive ends not quite as well known are Tampa Bay's Michael Bennett and St. Louis' William Hayes. Bennett had a career high nine sacks in 2012, his fourth season, while Hayes recorded seven sacks for the Rams after four largely nondescript years in Tennessee. After that, the "past his prime" question applies to a glut of available pass rushers who will have varying levels of gas left in the tank. It's up to the sack needy teams to decide where they can get the most value. Indy's Dwight Freeney is 33 and was probably miscast as an outside linebacker when the Colts changed schemes last year. He will intrigue teams looking to return him to end in a 4 3. The New York Giants' Osi Umenyiora is another classic 4 3 end whose track record is strong, but whose production began tailing off last year. Chicago's Israel Idonije has been a revelation the last three years in Chicago (20 sacks), taking advantage of all the double teams sent Julius Peppers' way on the other side. The Bears made interior lineman Henry Melton their higher priority this offseason, handing Melton the franchise tag. With Johnson franchised, Cincinnati may try to keep Robert Geathers as well. The list of longtime veterans looking for one last shot seems almost endless. Who has the most to offer amongst Cleveland's Juqua Parker, Oakland's Richard Seymour and Andre Carter, Detroit's Kyle Vanden Bosch and Atlanta's John Abraham is anyone's guess. Becoming nearly as valuable in today's NFL, of course, are the interior linemen who can defend the run as well as get after the quarterback. Players like this never have stats that jump off the page, but their game can jump off the film to scouts and personnel evaluators. Chicago's tag of Melton and Miami's tag of Randy Starks are proof of that. Those decisions are thought to potentially drive up the market for Kansas City's Glenn Dorsey, the former No. 5 overall pick, if he doesn't re sign with the Chiefs, though Dorsey is coming off an injury plagued 2012. Former Packer Cullen Jenkins hit it big in free agency two years ago with Philadelphia but is available again after being released. The Packers reportedly have interest in the New York Giants' Chris Canty and possibly San Francisco's Ricky Jean Francois, but those players will have other suitors, as well. If Tennessee lets Sen'Derrick Marks reach free agency, he could be viewed as an up and comer. Dwan Edwards is coming off a solid year in Carolina, while Oakland's Desmond Bryant was potentially going to generate significant interest, but his prospects may have changed with a recent arrest. For pure, in the trenches grunt work, San Francisco nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga, Detroit's Sammie Hill and Seattle's Alan Branch could benefit from a change of scenery. New Orleans' Sedrick Ellis didn't do himself any favors with minimal production in a contract year.
